As part of their inquiry into the concept of systems through the lens of the PYP, the Pre-K students visited the school cafeteria to observe how different parts work together to create an organized and functional system. Guided by their curiosity and questions, the children observed how food is prepared in the kitchen and how trays and utensils are distributed. They began to understand that each person — the cooks, cafeteria staff, and even the students — has a role that contributes to the success of the whole system. This visit supported their development as inquirers and thinkers, helping them make real-world connections to the idea that systems are composed of interdependent parts working together for a common purpose.
