At Escola Internacional de Alphaville, innovation continues to fuel our teaching practices, and the latest initiative from our Physics Department is a perfect example of this dynamic approach. Led by the ever-creative Mr Caio Salutte, students recently took part in a thrilling Formula 1-themed challenge that tested not only their scientific knowledge but also their strategic thinking. In this exciting classroom activity, students worked in small teams with one clear objective: to claim pole position after completing 30 virtual laps. But this was no ordinary race — success depended on their ability to make calculated decisions based on the physics of tyre performance and pit stop strategies.Armed with detailed information about three distinct types of tyres, each with specific advantages and limitations in terms of speed, durability, and grip, students had to perform precise calculations to determine the most effective race strategy. When to pit? Which tyre to choose? How to balance speed with endurance? These were the critical questions each team faced as they navigated the race simulation.
