Two weeks before the meeting of G20 countries (in Pittsburgh on September 24 and 25), which brings together the biggest economies both in developed and in developing counties, responsible for 85% of the world's wealth, High School students of the International School of Alphaville had the honor of representing Brazil in a kind of previous meeting.

Each of the countries in G20 was represented by a school and through a videoconference; students around the world discussed among themselves the themes which will be covered by the Presidents of the member countries in the G20 summit. Topics such as the global financial system, solutions for the economic crisis, new sources of energy, and ways to protect the environment were discussed.

“Our students asked the representatives of G20 questions and then had a debate with students from a Pittsburgh school”, explains the teacher Marilda Bardal, High School Coordinator of the International School of Alphaville. “It was an honor to represent Brazil in such a relevant event”, she adds. For students, the experience brought positive impressions.

“The experience was really different; we could see how a videoconference works and have a debate with North American students”, says the student Maria Elisa, High School 3.

“It is exciting to experience the sensation that, at least in thesis, we can influence decisions which may impact the whole world”, completes the student Mariana Piesco.

For the History teacher, Marcela Cavallante, who guided students during the process of preparation of the event, the activity was very important. "It was a real Economics course; they studied commodities, biopiracy, and the global financial system, among other central themes in the Economic scenario."
