Fun activities, outings, games, gymkhanas, socialization in the school environment and with children in the same age group, all prepared to make the vacation period fun and useful. This is how we define Summer School, a recreative and bi-lingual cultural program promoted by the International School of Alphaville between January12 th and 16th.

Summer School is offered for children from 3 to 13 years of age, students at the school and children of people who live in the area near the school. The program provides fun, culture and security in a familiar and  friendly environment.

In this edition of the vacation program, children could take part in several playful and educational activities , such as circle songs (a game in which children form a circle and sing folk songs following a choreography ), treasure hunt (an activity which is not only fun but also stimulates reasoning through games using clues, alphabets in codes and tasks to be accomplished), cultural and musical gymkhanas and “popcorn session “ ( with films appropriate for each age group).

Besides this, other high points were the workshops with artistic activities  (painting, drawing, carpentry, sculpture, theater, cooking, circus, juggling, etc), aquatic activities, court games and sensory games, extreme sports, etc and the visit to the school´s Mini Zoo, which offered  constructive moments for the kids,  integration with the school environment and mobilization of their cognitive schemes .

According to the teachers, Rafael Cardoso and Camila Doraide, one of the activities students most enjoy during Summer School are the outings and excursions. “They love it; this year we took them to the Zoo of São Paulo and to SESC Interlagos, and the repercussion was very positive”, they analyze.

Another special moment was after the “Jantar do Brega”, when the children had the opportunity to organize a camp with tents and sleep at school.

“Children feel more freedom when they are in the school environment while there are no classes, and see the school as a place which is not only for studying , but also a place to play”, concludes Rafael.
