The International School is engaged in the preparation of citizens who are conscious in relation to the world in which they live and in the social context of which they are part . Since its foundation, it has been directed at the development of actions which stimulate students to have a wide view of social responibility and preservation of the environment.

There are varied contributions in this sense.

Throughout the year, for example, on representative dates, internal campaigns are developed with the objective of collecting articles to be donated to several institutions.

At Easter, chocolate is collected; at winter time the Campanha do Agasalho is done; on Children´s Day great amounts of toys are collected; and on other occasions, such as the June Party and Christmas, parties with tickets charged in the form non - perishable foods are organized, and these are also donated to these institutions.

On the 2007 June Party, for instance, one ton of food was collected and donated to Sítio Agar, which shelters children with the AIDS virus.

In a rotation manner, each campaign helps from 10 to 20 institutions. The students take part in delivering all that is collected, which offers them a rich experience.

Besides this direct action in helping the poorer community, there is another initiative which reinforces the seed of solidarity: the project called Windows for the Future, created by High School students and which has existed for four years. It is a project of social education which benefits 80 young people with lower economic level, who live in neighborhoods surrounding the house condominiums of Alphaville.

Through it, teenagers from 12 to 16 years of age learn Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Computer skills, in free classes with the International School of Alphaville's High School students.

Classes are given every Friday by High School students and last 50 minutes. The purpose of the project is to promote the integration of young people of different socio-economic classes who live near each other.

Besides these, there are actions such as the donation, in 2007, of 70 books to help the library built for the children who receive assistance of the "Learn" project, a non profit organization located in São Roque, interior of São Paulo.

Another part of the books collected was divided between the Pro Talent program of Rotary Santana do Parnaíba and the Institute of Social Development of Carapicuíba.

Linked to social responsibility is environmental conscience. The International School of Alphaville, through a partnership with the NGO SOS Mata Atlantica, participates in a project called "Tietê, Tietê" since 2001.

In this action, students from the International School of Alphaville act as fiscal agents checking the levels of pollution in the river.

Thus, using a kit (which functions as a mini laboratory), supplied by the SOS Mata Atlântica, they make the water analysis, measuring the level of oxygen, level of phosphate (chemical substance which should not be present), the PH (level of acidity), coliforms (bacilli which indicate the feces contamination of the water), the BDO (Biochemical Demand of Oxygen) and other elements which are present.

As can be observed, the International School of Alphaville has a constant and continued participation in promoting with students the development of socio-environmental conscience, contributing to the formation of a society which is more ecological, solidary and human.
