Daniel Munduruku, representing the Indian tribe Munduruku,  came to the International School of Alphaville to give a lecture to Juniors 1/9 A and B students.The activity was part of the research project “A Cultura Indígena na Formação da Identidade Brasileira” (Indian Culture in the Formation of Brazilian Identity), which is being developed to be shown as a final project in the Scientific-Cultural Exhibition.
For this research, Cristina Kondo and Cláudia Velho , teachers of J1/9 A and Flávia Pinto and Luciana Juliani, teachers of J 1/9 B decided to focus on one specific village – in this case, the people of Munduruku. After choosing the Munduruku, came the idea of inviting an Indian to talk to the students.
Daniel, besides being a Lecturer, disseminating the traditions of his ethnic group, is also a writer.He talked to students about culture, values and custums of the tribe.
The conversation was a rich experience, since Daniel prepared himself the same way he characterizes himself to speak with the village children: painted face and a headpiece.He told them interesting things about the habits of those in his tribe, such as the eating habits of the Mundurukus, who base their food on the animals they hunt in the jungle - one of the most appreciated meat is that of  monkeys.
The Indian also revealed that Munduruku means “giaant ant”and that the tribe has this name due to their combative nature, which it has always had in history. He also taught them a song sung by the young indians when they invite friends to play.
At the end of their meeting, the children interviewed Daniel with questions they had prepared. “The repercussion was excellent: the children were very interested in the lecture , staying very quiet throughout Daniel´s  explanations ”, concludes  Luciana.
