OUR IMAGE AND CONCEPT OF THE CHILD

 

The Escola Internacional has a global perception of the child.The child is seen and considered as a competent human being, that has its own ideas, feelings and wills, that is inserted in a culture, being also a culture creator in relation to other children, having always its teachers as mediators and facilitators of the learning and development process.



 
     
AUTONOMY AND SELF-CONFIDENCE

It is this perception we have of the child, that guarantees a social and affectionate environment of hospitality and respect, that is going to help the child build a good self-image and self-concept so that, gradually, he/she becomes an autonomous and self-confident person.






PLAYING (FUN) SPACE

The aspect of having fun while learning in child education should be considered by schools focusing on the holistic approach for the development of the child, for it is through playing that the child begins communicating with the world of objects and people, with a lot of curiosity and enthusiasm. It's the child's first language.

 
 
“The child plays, the adult works”, says a renown thinker of the 20th century.

The Escola Internacional seeks out this pleasure as a way to establish good interaction among the children and between the adults and children.  In this environment the different dimensions of childhood personalities flourish and learning occurs.

To consolidate our proposed objectives in our pedagogical and educational project, the Escola Internacional offers their employees, coordinators and  teachers, directory and counseling director, opportunities for continued studies, through meetings, seminars, lectures, courses and a lot of study.




FAMILY / SCHOOL RELATIONSHIP


 
 
A trust relationship, which should be created between the family and the school is becoming more and more important in today's world.

Young children and youth need their parents to show interest in their academic lives and their creative production.

They feel more secure and produce more when their parents trust the school they attend.

Therefore, parents should attend their children's events; plays, shows, lectures, commemorative dates and meetings.

 
     
We setup encounters where the pedagogic projects are students documented moments presented to parents via DVD, Videos and or audio recordings.

We reiterate the building of a school-family partnership is paramount in making the student feel that both the school and the family are united in achieving the same objective, which is to offer an education in tune with the necessities of our contemporary era.








PROJECT WORK AND PEDAGOGY


 
     
We frequently use projects to avoid the 'broken learning' that comes from specific subject division.  We believe in the interdependence of learning and it is exactly through projects that the child realizes the links of interdisciplinary learning.

This way the student is stimulated into creating a realistic global view right from preschool.

Aside from this, project work constitutes one of the best interactive activities possible, able to provide a multitude of tasks that can meet the student´s needs, expectations and learning paces, envolving all of the students.

Developing a variety of abilities – intellectual, motor, emotional, creator and communicator – Children LEARN BY DOING. They also learn how to solve problems based on real situations.

Projects favor important abilities for education and molding. As the student learns by doing they learn solidarity and sociality, necessary values for a proper third millennium education.
