Nowadays, with our complex, technological society favoring IT speed and company / people behavior changes, schools need to form versatile and resilient individuals who have the capacity to identify and solve problems, think, doubt and criticize  conventional  knowledge.  They also need to critically interpret the phenomena and try to transform it, produce original ideas, preserving human rights and still carry out their duties.

In this very real world with real necessities, the Escola Internacional clearly knows the type of citizen it wants to mold. Our commitment to education is not to make it just a reproductive process, but mainly as one concerned about creativity, knowledge, reflexive knowledge and about 'Global Citizenship', for in a globalized world,  universal questions become responsibility of everybody.

This way, only the ability to think critically and reflexively will lead the students to   knowledge construction and on to COGNITIVE AUTONOMY, enabling them to reach formal-logical reasoning, without which, they would not be able to manage their capabilities and become agents of change.

We also believe that only an education with guidance in ethical values, along with critical thinking development, care in stimulating capacity building judgment values and those of making decisions, produce prepared individuals who can face and solve the enormous global problems, which confront us daily in this Third Millennium.



PRINCIPLE OBJECTIVES OF ELEMENTARY AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS - JUNIORS AND TEENS

teach students to think having a critical and reflexive attitude towards knowledge, enlarging their vision of the world, preserving their culture and preparing them to solve new situations.

develop an understanding of their natural and social environments, their political and  technology systems, arts and society based values.

develop the capacity of learning, through the thorough mastering of reading, writing and arithmetic.

develop student perseverance and thought organization to broaden the universe of  analysis, interpretation and world transformation.

develop the capacity of apprenticeship in the student, keeping in mind the acquisition of knowledge, abilities, skills and the forming of attitudes and values.

strengthen family bonds, solidarity ties and reciprocal tolerance upon which social life is established.

encourage self-study in a reflexive and critical manner in any area of knowledge.

develop understanding and correct expression in both Portuguese and English  through reading, writing, listening and speaking.

provide mastery of specific English terminology for each subject and grade.

in summary, we encourage an integral development of our students’ personality, in other words, a cognitive, physical, movement, affective, social, relational, ethical, aesthetic and political development.
